Bungee jumping, anyone?

Lately I’ve been thinking about bungee jumping. “Huh?” I hear you say. I’ll explain.

Seems like I’ve been in freefall mode of late, spiritually speaking. You know, when you kinda hit that point where you get to the end of yourself and don’t know what else to do. Even words seem inadequate, and you’re thankful that God understands those “groans that words cannot express” (Rom. 8:26). That’s when you climb to the top of the highest “mountain” you can find, strap on your “bungee cord” after ensuring that it’s securely harnessed, close your eyes, spread out those arms and fall.

Sometimes the freefall seems to last an eternity, but you must remember to keep your eyes closed, otherwise the things you see whizzing by and the ground fast approaching could distract you. Even as you fall, you feel the bungee around your ankles, reassuring, reminding you that you’re still firmly anchored. Regardless of how long the freefall lasts, in real or imagined time, fixate on one truth: He’ll catch you…He always does!

Sola, I think you are not alone in this! Everyone is edgy-with the economy, with the election, and here in SD with the vote on abortion (IM11) there is particular unrest! Our Pastor teaches that what happens in the natural world, has ramifications in the spiritual world. I’m taking this edginess in the world, as a sign to pray-even if (as you eluded to Romans 8:26) I don’t know exactly what to pray for! I’m doing my best to trust it all to Him. That’s a spiritual bungee jump-isn’t it? I’ll see you when it’s over! I’m keeping my eyes closed like you recommended-closed in PRAYER. Blessings!
